8000 Lb. Open Class
1. Engines:
- A. Limited to automotive type – maximum of eight cylinders per engine – two valves and one spark plug per cylinder.
- B. One blown or two naturally aspirated engines per vehicle.
- C. Maximum size: blown – 575 cubic inch; naturally aspirated – combined 1100 cu. In. Maximum engine size is 540 cubic inches for super stock, modified turbo, or pro stock tractors pulling in the open class.
- D. Maximum blower size 8-71, no high helix rotors or cases.
- E. No aluminum engine blocks.
- F. Blower belt shield required, blower restraint required if no waste gate installed.
- G. Super stock tractors limited to two chargers – no sigma pumps
- H. Super stock alcohol tractors limited to 504 ci – one spark plug per cylinder.
- I. Diesel pickups
2. On vehicles with multi-cylinder engines using starter ring between engines – the starter ring must be 360 degree shielded with 1/4″ steel and have both ends enclosed.
3. Multi-cylinder engines that are coupled together the coupler must be 360 degree shielded.
4. Harmonic balancers must be 360 degree shielded and fastened with bolt. Sfi approved balancers exempt from shielding.
5. Vehicles equipped with any type of clutch must have steel or aluminum flywheel and use a blowproof bellhousing having no non-factory holes, drilled or cut in it – exception of a clutch maintenance/inspection hole and one 1″ cooling hole, and be equipped with a block saver plate of 3/16″ steel of 1/4″ aluminum. No cast iron components permitted – components defined as flywheel, pressure plate, floaters/clutch disc(s). All automatic transmissions must have positive reverse gear lockout and a safety blanket installed (blanket must be in good condition).
6. Maximum length of vehicle is 15′ from center of rear axle housing to the further most point of vehicle. Vehicle must have wide front axles. Front wheels must track within rear wheels.
7. Hitch height is 20″ for all vehicles in open class and length is minimum of 18″ from center of rear axle to hook point. No clevis allowed on drawbar. Hitches must be rigid, in all directions. No movement is allowed while pulling. Drawbars must be parallel to the ground. Hitch must be horizontal – not vertical. Do not connect drawbars and stabilizer bars.
8. Maximum tire size of 30.5″ x 32″. Single cut or double cut tires allowed.
9. Super stock tractors must have a safety blanket around the bellhousing. The blanket must be in good condition.
10. Competing vehicles must have working rear wheel brakes.
11. Two wheel drives trucks using non-planetary rears must use hub shields.
12. No four wheel drive trucks or classic modified tractors allowed to pull in open class.
13. All exhaust systems must discharge vertically – vertically is defined as being within 10 degrees (any direction) of “being plumb”. Height shall be a minimum of 12′’ above the bend in the pipe which discharges vertically, measured from the top of the pipe to the bottom of the bend.
14. Pulling vehicles must have an automatic ignition kill switch and/or shut off. Kill switch must be mounted independently of drawbar and/or wheelie bars. Kill switch to be mounted in rear center of vehicle, 48″ above and within 6″ off center of point of hook.. Kill switch for spark ignition engines the kill switch must break or ground the ignition circuit and must break electric power to an electric fuel pump(s) if so equipped. For diesel engines the kill switch cable must activate the air shutoff to the engine. No electrical operated air shutoff. The air shutoff cable must be a positive-type enclosed cable.
15. Pulling vehicles must have a shield between the driver and the tires that consists of a solid barrier between the driver and any part of the rear tires. The barrier must be able to sufficiently support the weight of the driver and must extend a minimum of 6″ horizontally at the top, and be a minimum of 36″ wide at the top.
16. All vehicles must have be equipped with stabilizer bars. Stabilizer bars to have pads, not wheels, on bottom of bars. Pads to be a minimum of 5 sq. In. Pads to be a minimum of 32″ rearward from the center of the rearend housing. Pads maximum of 10″ off the ground. Outside to outside length of pads to be a minimum of 20″. Minimum 12″ high bumper bars – top to be fastened to stabilizer bar framing. Bars must support weight of tractor for weight class being pulled.
17. All weight frames and weights must be stationary and safely secured to the vehicle. Frames or weights must not extend rearward beyond the rear tires or exceed the width of the rear tires. No weights on vehicle seat or deck or within 8″ of top of drawbar.
18. All driveshafts must be inclosed. Any continuous section cannot be longer than 48”.
19. Legal fuels are gasoline, diesel fuel, water, and alcohol. All forms of nitro-methane, including nitrous oxide and propylene oxide are illegal.
20. Vehicle must have a rollover protection bar or cage that is at least as high as the top of the drivers head/helmet. Rollover protection must be fastened at least two points to the rear axle housing. Factory style flip down tops allowed. Rollover protection must be able to lift one rear wheel when pulled horizontally from the top of the bar/cage without damage to the rollbar/cage.
21. Fire extinguisher is required.
22. Driver must wear helmet and fire suit (jacket and pants).
Work Stock
The Work Stock (WS) class is designed for daily-driven, on the road pickup trucks (full-bodied diesel pickup trucks). Valid DOT registration and license plates are mandatory. The vehicle may be two or four-wheel drive.
Designation: WS followed by competition number
Weight breaks: 8000 lbs. Weight is with driver
REGULATIONS:
Ballast: Ballast is permitted. Hanging front weights are prohibited. Ballast may be added in the bed of the truck. If used, ballast must be securely fastened to the bed. Final decisions rest with the NADM Technical Department.
Batteries: The batteries must be securely mounted. They may not be located in the driver compartment or forward of the radiator core support.
Body: The body must be the OEM truck body, including the full bed floor. The body must retain full sheet metal. Metal after-market hoods are permitted. Fiberglass is prohibited. The hood must be closed and securely latched while the vehicle is hooked to the sled. The complete OEM firewall and OEM floor pan is mandatory.
Brakes: Four-wheel hydraulic brakes are mandatory.
Chassis: The OEM chassis is mandatory. The engine must be in the OEM location for the body used. The vehicle must retain the full OEM chassis. Wheel tubs, back-half conversions, tube chassis, etc., are prohibited.
Cooling System: Radiators must be in the stock location and be of at least stock size.
Credentials: All drivers must have a valid state drivers license.
Driveline: An OEM transmission and transfer case are mandatory. They must have been an option on a one-ton or smaller pickup.
Driver Restraint System: The OEM restraint system is mandatory and must be worn.
Engine: The engine is limited to a stock-appearing, OEM make-specific compression ignition engine. NITROUS OXIDE is prohibited along with other oxygen extenders as well as the use of PROPANE is also prohibited. All system components MUST be removed from the truck.
Exhaust: All vehicles must be equipped to direct exhaust upward. The exhaust must exit
rearward of the driver’s compartment. Stacks exiting through the hood or fender well are
prohibited. If the muffler or catalytic converter have been changed from stock, two 3/8 inch diameter bolts must be installed through the exhaust pipe in a cross pattern within one inch of each other as close to the turbo as is practical.
Fire Extinguisher System: A fire extinguisher system is permitted. It must be securely mounted.
Fuel: The fuel must be pump #1/#2 diesel only. Soy/Bio-diesel
fuel is permitted. Off-road diesel fuel is prohibited.
Fuel Injection Pump: The fuel injection pump is limited to a stock-appearing, OEM engine model-specific pump only. The use of multiple high-pressure common-rail fuel pumps is prohibited. Powerstroke engines with a single factory turbo may utilize a second HPOP. Pumps from different years in the same engine model may be interchanged.
Fuel System: The OEM fuel tank is mandatory and must be used. Racing fuel cells are prohibited and must be removed from the vehicle.
Harmonic Balancer: All engines turning 4500 RPM and higher must be equipped with a
harmonic balancer or damper meeting SFI Spec 18.1.
Hitch: The hitch must be a receiver-style hitch; reinforcements are permitted. Reinforcements must not extend forward of the centerline of the rear axle. Trick hitches are prohibited. The hooking point must be the rear-most point on the vehicle
and must be rearward of the stock location of the tailgate. The hitch must be horizontal to the ground and stationary in all directions. Bumpers may be notched or removed. The hitch’s height from the ground may not exceed 26 inches on 4wd units and 30 inches on 2wd units. The hooking point must have a minimum 3.750-inch inside diameter opening for the sled hook. The hooking point will be measured to the center of the clevis loop.
Interior: A complete interior, including dashboard, door panels, headliner, etc., is mandatory. Two matching front seats are mandatory. Aftermarket seats are permitted; they must be fully upholstered. All factory controls (lights, signals, horn, windows,
wipers, etc.) must be retained and be operative. The use of hand-throttle controls are
prohibited.
Rear End: Non-OEM rear-end housings are prohibited. It must have been an option on a one-ton or smaller pick up. Rear axle bolts must be covered by a cap or shield.
Steering: The vehicle must retain the full, original OEM steering gear. The vehicle must retain the original OEM power steering assistance, if it was so equipped. Additional stabilizers are permitted. Non-OEM power assist methods are prohibited.
Street Equipment: Complete headlight and taillight assemblies (all) are mandatory and must be operative. Complete OEM windshield and windows are mandatory. Windows must be operative per factory specifications; that is, they must open and close via OEM electrical or mechanical means.
Suspension, Front: The upper mounting point for strut assemblies must be in the factory location. Adjustable caster/camber pillow ball mounts are permitted. The lower control arm may be strengthened provided factory-mounting points to chassis are maintained. The lower mountingStreet Equipment: Complete headlight and taillight assemblies (all) are mandatory point for the strut assembly may be modified for improved caster or camber. Strut tower braces, lower tie bars, sway bars, and limit straps are permitted. Traction bars and devices are permitted.
Final decisions rest with the NADM Technical Department.
Suspension, Rear: An OEM-style suspension is mandatory. Lowering or raising the vehicleheight with suspension modifications is permitted. Traction bars and devices are
permitted; they must be bolt-on only; welds are permitted for attachment to frame or axle
housing. All OEM suspension mounting points must be retained and used. Sway bars, limit straps, and camber kits are permitted. The rear suspension must maintain a minimum compression shock travel of one inch; compression stops must be adjustable. All rear suspensions must use at least one working shock absorber per wheel. Airbag spring assistance is permitted; airbag compressors must be disconnected.
Tires: The tires must be DOT street tires. Cut tires are prohibited.
Tow Vehicles: Tow vehicles are prohibited.
Transfer Case: Non-OEM transfer cases are prohibited. The transfer case must have been an option on a one-ton or smaller pick up truck.
Transmission, Automatic: Non-OEM transmissions are prohibited. Aftermarket torque
converters, valve bodies and internal components are permitted. Transmission brakes
are prohibited. Any non-OEM floor-mounted automatic transmission shifter must be equipped with a spring-loaded positive reverse lockout device to prevent the shifter from
accidentally being put into reverse gear. A functional neutral safety switch is mandatory. All transmission lines must be metallic or high-pressure-type hose. All vehicles with
engines running 4500 RPM or more and using an automatic transmission must be equipped with a transmission shield meeting SFI Spec 4.1 and must be labeled accordingly. A blanket-type shield is permitted; it must be appropriately labeled as meeting SFI Spec 4.1 and it must extend from the rear of the block to the front of tail housing with a minimum six inch overlap where it is fastened. All non-blanket-type shields must incorporate two (or one, per manufacturers instructions) 3/4 inch by 1/8 inch straps that bolt to the shield on each side and pass under the transmission pan unless the transmission pan is labeled as meeting SFI Spec 4.1. All vehicles
with engines running 4500 RPM or more and using an automatic transmission must be
equipped with a flex plate meeting SFI Spec 29.1 and be covered by a flex plate shield
meeting SFI Spec 30.1.
Transmission, Manual: Non-OEM transmissions are prohibited. Aftermarket internal
components are permitted. A clutch meeting minimum SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 is mandatory on all vehicles with engines running 4500 RPM or more. All manual transmissions must be clutch assisted. Sequential shifters are prohibited. All vehicles with engines running 4500 RPM or more and equipped with a manual transmission must have a flywheel shield labeled as meeting minimum SFI Spec 6.3 or greater. Applications for which an SFI Spec flywheel shield is not available may use a properly attached SFI 4.1 or 4.2 blanket that completely covers the bell housing; it must be attached to the block and extend rearward to the transmission with a minimum six inch overlap where it is fastened.
Turbocharger: The turbocharger is limited to a stock-appearing, OEM/Factory make-specific charger only. Turbochargers from different years in the same make may be interchanged. 6.4 liter Powerstroke engines may utilize the factory twin-turbo configuration.
Water Injection: Water injection is prohibited. All system components must be removed from the truck.
Wheelbase: The vehicle must retain the original factory wheelbase and track width.
Farm Stock Tractor
1. Weight classes are 10500, 12500 lbs.
2. Contest open to farm tractors with rubber tires. No cut tires, no tire studs or chains permitted. Four wheel drive tractors are permitted if front wheels are disengaged. No dual wheels. All factory wheels must be in place. Maximum tire width is 24.5” in all classes.
3. All weights must be secured to the tractor. No weight may extend more than 24” beyond the forward most point of hood or front tires. No weights permitted on seat or deck. Any weights or external parts lost while hooked to the sled will be cause for disqualification of the pull. No weights to extend past rear of the rear tire.
4. Minimum draw bar length is 18” from the center of rear axle to point of hook up. Draw bar must be stationary in all directions. Maximum height is 20” from top of hitching device parallel to the ground. Any vertical clevis will be measured to center of loop.
5. Draw bar must be equipped with steel hitching device with thickness no less than 1” square or 1-1/8” round stock and no more than 1-1/2” thick square or round stock. A minimum 3” and maximum 3-1/2” diameter hole is required. A cross sectional thickness of 1” square minimum must be maintained at any given point of hitch loop. No bracing above center of rear axle except for complete factory set-up. If above center, it must be cradled.
6. A 3000 R.P.M. limit on all tractors.
7. 10,500 lb. class and up will be permitted add on turbo; turbo must match make and model of tractor or may be no larger than a 3LM 466. The compressor housing will have a maximum of 2.9” I.D. of intake and 2.0” O.D. outlet. The exhaust housing will be no larger than 360 with a maximum outlet of 3.06” I.D.
9. OEM injection pump.
10. Tractors must have working PTO and hydraulics.
11. Tractor must be stock agricultural block with no visual engine modifications. Engine must be of original type or factory replacement. Original hood and grill must be in place. 1957 and newer must have rear fenders.
12. All tractors must be equipped with both rear brakes working. Use of torque converters, automatic shift, etc. is permitted. No industrial tractors or slipper clutches allowed.
13. No foot cross over and no hand control of foot brakes permitted.

2008/2012 RULES
WEIGHT; 7700#
AGE OF TRACTOR; 1970 and older but including total run of that model.
AGE OF DRIVER; 18 years or older
FUEL; Diesel fuel only, no pressurized fuel tanks.
TIRES; 18.4 x 38 maximum radials allowed
CYLINDER BLOCK OR CRANK CASE; Must be from the same manufacturer. All up graded Blocks must be approved by the committee Examples: IH 68 series 466, JD 40 series 466, JD 5010 & 5020 must run 531 block, AC 426, Case 504, Ford 478, MM 504, Oliver 478 and others to be approved by the committee ALL ENGINES MUST BE 531 CUBIC INCHES OR SMALLER .
All tractors that hook 3 or more times in one season must have a cubic inch, turbo, and Safety inspection.
HEADS; Must be from same manufacturer and must bolt in stock location without modification. No over head cams allowed.
DRAW BAR; Draw bars must not exceed 20 inches in height or less than 18 inches from center of axle to hooking point. No part of draw bar may extend rearward beyond point of hook. Draw bars must be stationary in all directions. No clevis
HOOD, GRILL, FRAME, TRANSMISSION, REAR END, AXLE; Must be for that make and model and must maintain stock appearance and dimension. front ends may be homemade but must maintain stock appearing wheelbase. Frames may be altered to except upgraded blocks. No cast iron engine frames.
TOTAL LENGTH OF TRACTOR; Maximum length 12’ from center of rear axle to the furthest point forward, including weights.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT; Helmet, Fire Suit, Wheelie bars, Roll cages, kill switches, fire extinguishers, fenders, side shields, SFI flywheels and pressure plates, scatter blanket or steel shields, no steel fans, all electric fuel pumps must be wired to the kill switch. Wide front axles. No cast iron engine frames. (ladder bars are recommended).
INJECTOR PUMPS; P – Pump maximum, one plunger per cylinder. No computerized fuel systems allowed.
The Committee will monitor the new pump rule and may make changes to level the playing field as they deem necessary.
MANIFOLDS; No inner coolers, no after coolers. OEM stock intake and exhaust manifolds for that series engine, alteration for turbo mounting allowed.
TURBO, ONE ONLY; One single stage turbo allowed. Turbo must not extend through hood.
A. Exhaust bolt pattern no larger than 2.750 in x 3. 250 in .
B. No altering of a housing to accommodate a smaller base; e.g. T-18A95 with a smaller base welded to it. No external altering of housings. Compressor housing must be 3LM style with 2” OD outlet.
C. A compressor measurement to be measured at the face of the wheel inlet of a maximum of 2.7 in. The wheel may be no larger than this measurement at the inlet. Tips of wheel must protrude into opening at least 1/8”. No slots or grooves. A maximum of 2 in. OD at the outlet.
D. An exhaust measurement to be measured at the face of the wheel outlet of a maximum of 3 in. The wheel may be no larger than this measurement at the outlet.
ALL RULES WILL BE INTERPRETED BY THE DIV 5 COMMITTEE. ANY UNFORESEEN PROBLEMS OR OVERSIGHTS WILL BE RULED ON BY THE COMMITTEE.

Northwest Limited Modified 4x4 Truck
1. Weight –6200 lbs
2. Engine – Open factory engine same as manufacturer of the truck. Cast iron block. Cast iron or aluminum heads. Electric fan and electrical water pump optional. Engine shielding same as Super Stock Trucks. Engine in stock location plus or minus 1”.
- a. Gas engines limited to 540 cubic inches.
- b. Alcohol engines limited to 410 cubic inches.
3. Headers – Open headers. Exhaust must exit below the truck with deflection shields or turn downs, or vertically through the hood.
4. Intake – Aluminum intakes allowed. No tunnel rams. One (1) complete single four- (4) barrel carburetor only.
5. Drive Shaft Safety Requirements – Same as Super Stock. All trucks must have three (3) round metal loops shielding in each drive shaft (two (2) piece drive shaft will have six (6) metal loops). 360 degree loop must be a minimum of 3/8” thick aluminum, or ¼” steel, ¾” wide (or wider) and not more than two (2) inches from the shaft in any direction. End loops to be placed no further than six (6) inches from universal joints, with third loop in center of shaft, or can be a solid tube (3/8” aluminum or ¼” steel) meeting the above requirements. No cast metal. All trucks will have a 360 degree metal shield around the universal joints, 3/8” thick aluminum must have 1/8” steel liner or ¼” thick steel, minimum width six (6) inches.
6. Kill Switch – Same as Super Stock. Switch must be located in the rear center of the truck (maximum six (6) inches off center in any direction), 24” above the point of hook.
7. Suspension – Solid suspension allowed. Traction bars optional, front and rear.
8. Wheelbase – 134” maximum.
9. Tires – 31” x 15.50” x 15″ Wrangler or Omnitrax tires.
- a. Cut tires allowed.
- b. 1/2 stagger rule front to rear.
- c. No deflector shields front or rear behind the tires.
10. Weights – Front weights permitted. Maximum overall 60” from center of front axle to furthermost point of weights.
11. Transmissions/Clutches –Clutches must meet minimum SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2. Bell housing must meet minimum SFI Spec 6.1. Automatics must run a minimum SFI Spec 4.1 blanket that extends from back of engine block to front of tail shaft. Blanket must have a minimum 6” overlap and must be tight to back of block. Single OEM equipped transmissions and transfer case blow proof bell housing or blanket.
12. Safety – Fire suits & helmets required same as Super Stock Truck rules.
13. Hitch – Full 3” I.D. loop. 26” maximum height and 27% of wheelbase minimum. Stationary in all directions. Hitch must be accessible.
14. Fuel – Gasoline for 540 cubic inch engines or alcohol for 410 cubic inch engines. No oxygen accelerators.
15. Fuel Tanks – All fuel tanks must be located in an open area. Fuel tanks may not be located under hood or in cab, unless factory installed tanks are used. However, factory installed fuel tanks may be moved to an open area. Must have a manual shut-off at the tank.
16. Electric fuel pump optional, but must be hooked up to the kill switch.
17. No hood or body modifications, except for working hood scoop of 6” and/or header exits. Body must be steel. Must have factory firewall, bench seat or one bucket seat, switches optional. Wood and fiberglass beds are permitted. Any floor or tonneau cover permitted. Driveline must not be visible.
18. Must have working brakes on front. Lights and rear brakes optional.
19. Door has to work. Glass, Plexiglass or lexan allowed. No tinted windows.
20. Fire extinguisher in cab is required. Helmets and seatbelts required.
21. No planetary rear-ends.
22. All trucks will be pumped and checked before they can pull. They will have to provide two (2) intake bolts with holes of 1/16” to be sealed.
23. Rules will be reviewed on a yearly basis.
24. No Northwest Limited Modified 4 x 4 truck is eligible to pull Northwest Street Stock. However, you can move to Northwest Super Stock, but you will have to stay in Northwest Super Stock for the remainder of the pulling year and must comply to all Northwest Super Stock rules. Any driver arguing with a track official is subject to immediate disqualification. All decisions of the track official will be final at each pull. Any protests will be settled at next club meeting.
Street Stock Semi
This is a class for street legal and street licensed semi trucks. This is truly an OPEN class for all semi trucks, but it is definitely NOT a PURE STOCK class.
Legality of entry:
1. All entries must be a street licensed semi truck.
2. The owner must furnish a current registration card for the vehicle at the time of registration and the driver must have a valid CDL license.
3. Truck must be capable of pulling a trailer on the highway.
4. All trucks must be driven to pulls
Safety considerations:
1. No riders are permitted in truck during pull attempt. Driver may not leave the drivers seat while vehicle is on the pulling track. Driver will take all direction from the flagman on the track.
2. Drivers must use a seatbelt and shoulder harness when hooked to the sled.
Hitches:
1. Hitch height to be determined by promoter.
2. Hitch must work from the fifth wheel with the fifth wheel centered between center line of front axle to the center between the two axles.
3. Must supply own NTPA style hitch. (Not Provided)

Airbags:
1. The use of air bags is permitted. However no air may be added to or removed from the airbags while the truck is hooked to the weight transfer machine.
2. The height of the hitch must remain the same from start to finish. Any change in the hitch height will be cause for disqualification.
Weight of Truck (22,000 lb. maximum)
1. The truck shall appear “road ready”.
2. No added weight or ballast is permitted.
3. Special trucks, such as oil field trucks that carry additional weight that is not normally found on a “road ready” truck are not permitted in this class.
4. The promoter may weigh any truck at any time.
5. Trucks will triple rear axles are not permitted to participate in this class.
Specialty Rules
1. Chaining or blocking of drive axles is not permitted.
2. A single turbo-charger is the maximum permitted. Exception: a Factory 2006, 2007, 2008 Cat twin turbo engine is permitted with factory installed twin turbo set up and absolutely no modifications. Also NTC 475 Cummins factory twin turbo set ups are allowed.
3. Water injection in any form is not permitted.
4. No ether, alcohol, nitrous or other combustible (propellant) liquid or combustible material may be injected into the turbocharger or any part of the air intake system.
5. Alteration/modification/replacement of the (OEM) original factory fuel pump is not permitted. No pump may be modified with Sigma parts. A Cummins engine must have a Cummins fuel pump—A Detroit must have a Detroit fuel pump – A Cat must have a Cat fuel pump. Normal pump diesel is the only fuel permitted in this class.
6. Electronic engines must remain electronic. No mechanical fuel pumps permitted on electronic engines.
